Former U.S. Attorney to Investigate Fan Death
BOSTON, Mass. - July 02, 2008 - A former federal prosecutor is being asked to head an independent investigation into the death of David Woodman. Woodman died 11 days after Boston Police arrested him following the Celtics NBA Championship victory. Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis has asked former U.S. Attorney Donald K. Stern to conduct the external review of the circumstances surrounding Woodman's death. Stern led an independent investigation into the death of Emerson College student Victoria Snelgrove following a Red Sox pennant victory in 2004. That investigation found that police department mistakes led to the death of Snelgrove, who died after being shot by police with a pepper pellet gun.
